CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Goettel at 6:00 p.m. in the Bartholomew
Conference Room.
ROLL CALL
Council Members Debbie Goettel, Mayor; Edwina Garcia; Sue Sandahl; and Tom Fitzhenry.
Member Absent: Pat Elliott.
Staff Present: Steven L. Devich, City Manager; Wayne Kewitsch, Fire Services Director/Fire
Chief; Todd Sandell, Public Safety Director/Police Chief, Mike Dobesh,
Assistant Fire Chief; Jay Henthorne, Deputy Police Chief; and Cheryl
Krumholz, Executive Coordinator.
Others Present: Major Darrell Huggett, Hennepin County; and Captain Jim Bear, Hennepin
County.
Item # I DISCUSSION OF FUTURE DISPATCH CONSIDERATIONS
City Manager Devich explained why the City is considering a transition to the Hennepin
County communication center for dispatching. Discussion included the technological and
infrastructure upgrades needing to be completed by 2016 in the Richfield dispatch center, associated
funding, operational protocols, timeline and staffing.
Major Huggett and Captain Bear discussed Hennepin County's new state-of-the-art
communication center, dispatching capabilities, transition process and how they will accommodate
Richfield.
City Manager Devich stated the decision on Richfield's dispatching center will be on the June
11, 2013 City Council agenda.
