02-9153r I I I 85 RESOLUTION NO. 9153 RESOLUTION DESIGNATING CITY'S CONTRIBUTION TOWARD HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUMS FOR EMPLOYEES COVERED BY THE LAW ENFORCEMENT LABOR SERVICES, LOCAL 162 WHEREAS, the hospital-medical/surgical group health insurance plan is available from the LOGIS Health Insurance Program for City employees and their families; and WHEREAS, the City of Richfield and Law Enforcement Labor Services, Local 162, have a signed bargaining agreement covering a two year period ending December 31,2002; and WHEREAS, the labor agreement covers all terms and conditions of employment including the City contribution for health insurance benefits; and WHEREAS, the City has historically provided the same level of health insurance contribution to all eligible City employees, both union and non-union; and WHEREAS, the City desires to maintain such a position of equity; and WHEREAS, the current health benefit for Law Enforcement Labor Services, Local 162, is $20 per month below the $495 contribution given to some other employee groups; and WHEREAS, the City Council is required to determine by resolution the City's contribution toward the premium for employee group insurance coverages. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City shall contribute a maximum of $495 per month for family health insurance, and in any event, said contributions shall not exceed the cost of single coverage for employees selecting that option. Such contributions shall be for coverage effective January 1, 2002. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council shall determine the City's contribution toward insurance premiums for all organized employee groups by the adoption of the appropriate resolutions concerning labor contracts with the respective organized employee groups.
