03-9378r I I I 200 RESOLUTION NO. 9378 RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMEMORATING CITY ATTORNEY CLAYTON L. LEFEVERE FOR HIS MANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO RICHFIELD WHEREAS, Clayton LeFevere was president and co-founder of LeFevere, Lefler, Kennedy O'Brien and Drawz, a Minneapolis law firm, and served as the City of Richfield's City Attorney for over 37 years; and WHEREAS, Mr. LeFevere was not only Richfield's City Attorney but also called Richfield his home; and WHEREAS, Mr. LeFevere worked diligently on a number of critical issues that helped shape the Richfield of today, including the building of the Wood Lake Nature Center; construction of the Richfield Ice Arena, the first permanent paving of the City's streets, construction of the first senior high-rise, and formation of the Lyndale-HUB- Nicollet tax increment financing district; and WHEREAS, one of Mr. LeFevere's greatest accomplishments was the development of Richfield's City Charter, which is still in existence today; and WHEREAS, Mr. LeFevere was highly recognized as an authority on municipal government and positively impacted the City of Richfield and other Minnesota cities through his involvement with such organizations as the Metropolitan Council, . Cooperative Power Association, Minnesota AAA, Suburban Rate Authority, Minnesota Association of City and Village Attorneys, League of Minnesota Cities, Citizens League and the Richfield School District; and WHEREAS, Clayton L. LeFevere passed away on August 15, 2003. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Richfield recognizes and commemorates Clayton L. LeFevere for his years of service to the City of Richfield and other municipalities across the metropolitan area and mourn his passing. Adopted by the City Council of the City of Richfield, Minnesota this 9th day of " September, 2003. ATTEST: ~
