RESOLUTION NO. 9300
RESOLUTION APPROVING THE 2003 EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN FOR THE
CITY OF RICHFIELD AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO CONTINUE TO UPDATE AS
NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN AN ACCURATE, UP-TO-DATE PLAN
WHEREAS, when disaster strikes, preparedness, planning and training become
crucial to minimizing the ill effects of the incident, whether natural or man-made; and
WHEREAS, the City has conducted training through mock disaster tabletop
exercises and through sessions put on by the Minnesota Department of Emergency
Management to keep the City staff alert and knowledgeable of state guidelines; and
WHEREAS, the City has long had an Emergency Response Plan to guide and
assist in managing an event; and
WHEREAS, the City recognizes that an updated Emergency Response Plan is
an on-going process that must be done to assure that information contained in the Plan
is accurate; and
WHEREAS, the City also knows that it is not necessary for the Council to be
called upon to approve minor changes to the Plan and places that responsibility on staff
to continually monitor contact names, resources, procedures and checklists.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Richfield, Minnesota as follows:
1. The Emergency Response Plan as submitted this date is approved as presented.
2. Staff will monitor the Plan and make changes and updates as needed, without
Council approval, so long as the Plan is not affected in a major way.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Richfield, Minnesota this 11th day of
February, 2003.
